Spanje zal het op de Olympische Spelen van 2016 beter doen dan in Londen 2012, volgens een onderzoek van investeringsbank Goldman Sachs. Het rapport stelt dat Amerika en China de medaillespiegel zullen domineren, vooral nadat Rusland 24 mogelijke medailles verloor door een dopingschandaal. Goldman Sachs voorspelt dat Spanje in totaal 18 medailles zal winnen, waarvan er drie goud zullen zijn. Dat zou het koninkrijk op de 21e plaats in de wereld plaatsen.
