Torrente ligt op 9 km van Valencia, aan de voet van de heuvel Vedat de Torrent, op 15 km van de zee. Volgens de laatste volkstelling (2017) heeft de stad ongeveer 80.630 inwoners (ongeveer 11% is buitenlander). Het is de grootste gemeente in de provincie Valencia na de hoofdstad zelf en de zesde in de regio Valencia. Torrente grenst in het noorden aan de gemeenten Aldaya, Alaquas en Chirivella, in het oosten aan Picanya en Catarroja, in het zuiden aan Alc\u00e1cer en Picassent, in het westen aan Montserrat, Godelleta, Turis en Chiva. Een vijfde van het grondgebied van de gemeente wordt ingenomen door bergen, maar deze zijn niet hoog. De belangrijkste toppen van Torrente zijn: Vedat de Torrente (142 m), Morredondo (157), Barret (142), Cabezo de la Ara\u00f1a (228) en Sierra Perenchisa (329). De gemeente wordt doorkruist door de kloof Barranco de Torrente.<\/p>\n<h2> Weer en klimaat Torrente<\/h2>\n<p> Torrent heeft een mediterraan klimaat met milde winters en hete zomers. De gemiddelde jaartemperatuur is 18 \u00b0C, in de winter 10-12 \u00b0C en in de zomer 27 \u00b0C. Sommige wetenschappers suggereren dat de naam Latijnse wortels heeft: er zijn twee Latijnse woorden met een vergelijkbare wortel. Het eerste is Turritus (verheven, versterkt), het tweede is Torrens (snel, vlug). De eerste vermelding van de stad werd gevonden in een document van Jaime I, dat dateert uit 1232. Hier wordt de stad &quot;Vilas de Torrent&quot; genoemd. De naam Torrent was officieel tot 1860, toen alle gemeenten, krachtens een koninklijk besluit, hun naam moesten veranderen naar de Spaanse (Castiliaanse) naam. Vanaf dat moment heette de stad officieel Torrente. In 1979 kreeg de stad echter weer haar oude offici\u00eble naam: Torrent. De offici\u00eble stichtingsdatum van de stad valt in de tijd van de Reconquista, hoewel er hier verschillende archeologische bouwwerken zijn gevonden, evenals voorwerpen die dateren uit veel eerdere tijdperken. Deze wijzen erop dat er al sinds de bronstijd mensen in het gebied van het huidige Torrente woonden. De ru\u00efnes van Iberische nederzettingen, zoals Llometa del Clot de Bail\u00f3n, zijn hier ontdekt. Tijdens de Romeinse tijd werden er talloze herenhuizen op dit grondgebied gebouwd. Vanaf de 8e eeuw werden moslims de eigenaren van deze gronden, die een belangrijke stempel drukten op het uiterlijk van de stad: smalle straatjes, pleinen en vele doodlopende wegen. [deze plaats] De stichtingsdatum van Torrente wordt beschouwd als 1248, tien jaar na de verovering van Valencia door Jaime I. De koning bood deze gronden aan Don Hugo de Vielcalquer, een lid van de Orde van Malta, om zijn steun te verkrijgen in de oorlog om Valencia te veroveren. Aan het einde van de verovering, in 1232, ondertekende Jaime I een document waarin deze gronden aan de Orde van Malta werden geschonken. Onder andere Cullera, Silla, Montroy en Macastre werden overgedragen aan de Orde. In 1238 nam de Orde de gronden officieel in bezit en besloot ze te bevolken met christenen, die er huizen en landerijen aan kregen. De stad behoorde tot 1807 tot de orde. In de 17e eeuw werd het plein naast de kapel van de Virgen del Rosario aangelegd. De kapel zelf werd in 1868 verwoest. In 1846 werd Torrente de zetel van het gerechtelijk arrondissement. In de jaren 1810-1850 werd de Alter zone aangelegd, met de straten de San Jos\u00e9, Santa B\u00e1rbara, San Onofre, Santa Luc\u00eda, Virgen de los Desamparados, Santa Teresa en andere. In 1893 werd het treinstation in Torrente geopend. Het werd onderdeel van de spoorlijn die Valencia met Villanueva de Castell\u00f3n verbond. In 2009 werd het Pont Blau-brugproject voltooid, dat het stadscentrum verbindt met het industrieterrein Mas del Jutge. Datzelfde jaar werd de Ronda del Safranar geopend, een ringweg waarmee u van de ene kant van de stad naar de andere kunt reizen zonder door het centrum te hoeven. De stad heeft een treinstation dat wordt beheerd door MetroValencia. Het speelt een belangrijke rol in de communicatie tussen Torrent en Valencia. Er zijn verschillende Metrob\u00fas-haltes in de stad. Metrolijnen: 1, 2, 7 (geel, roze, oranje), treinen rijden elke 7 minuten, het centrum van Valencia ligt op 15 minuten met de metro. Torrent heeft ook een eigen stadsbuslijn &#8211; Torrent Bus, die op 6 reguliere routes rijdt. De lijn werd in 2002 gelanceerd. Wie de voorkeur geeft aan ecologische vervoerswijzen, kan gebruikmaken van een netwerk van fietsverhuurbedrijven &#8211; Torrent Bici. Om van deze dienst gebruik te maken, moet u zich registreren bij het gemeentehuis. De stad heeft ook een universiteit, de Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Torrent. Het park beslaat een oppervlakte van meer dan 174 hectare. Het is een geliefde plek voor inwoners van Torrente om te wandelen en te sporten in de frisse lucht. Er zijn vele routes van verschillende moeilijkheidsgraden in het park. Daarnaast vindt u hier interessante historische monumenten en archeologische opgravingen. Het grootste aanbod aan appartementen is te vinden in de wijken Zona Avenida al Vedat, Zona Parc Central-Hort de Trenor, Zona Calle Valencia-La Ermita, en woningen in de wijken Zona El Vedat-Santa Apolonia en Zona Monte Real-Calicanto. Bent u ge\u00efnteresseerd in nieuwbouw, dan moet u in de wijken Zona Parc Central-Hort de Trenor, Zona Avenida Alta-Auditorio en Zona Avenida al Vedat zijn. Dit zijn de duurste wijken van de stad, maar de prijzen voor nieuwbouw in Torrent zijn veel betaalbaarder dan in Valencia (gemiddeld \u20ac 1696 per m\u00b2). Bovendien is er echt veel te kiezen: in Torrent zijn er veel moderne wooncomplexen met een uitstekende interne infrastructuur.
