A look at what interesting events await residents and visitors of Torrevieja, as well as nearby towns in the province of Alicante, at the end of this week.

MARCH 26. Comedy play “Behind the Scenes”

The experimental theater El Faro, located in Torrevieja at Calle Antonio Ruiz Coves, 6, invites you to the comedy play “Behind the Scenes.” It is a story about what happens on the other side of the stage: the daily life of actors, directors’ concerns, and rehearsal dramas as they really are. Lively dialogue, vivid characters, and an unembellished look at life in the theater make this production engaging and dynamic.

  • Starts at 19:30; tickets can be booked on the website www.teatroelfaro.es and cost 20, 25, and 50 euros.

MARCH 27. Friday market in Torrevieja

Every Friday, the Torrevieja street market operates in Parque Antonio Soria — one of the largest small-business hubs in the Vega Baja region. Up to 700 stalls and sales points are set up across an area of 82,000 square meters, offering food, clothing, shoes, accessories, and other goods at affordable prices compared with major supermarket chains. The Torrevieja market offers many conveniences such as free parking, public restrooms, and a taxi stand. Every 20 minutes from 8:00 to 14:00, a bus departs that is accessible for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users.

From Friday to Sunday, starting at 19:30, an amusement and games park for all ages is open here.

MARCH 27. Play “Viejos tiempos”

To mark World Theatre Day, the Gran Teatro of Elche presents “Viejos tiempos” (“Old Times”), based on the play of the same name by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter. Anna, Kate’s childhood friend, comes to the house where Kate lives with her husband Deeley. The unexpected appearance of the woman after 25 years triggers a chain of suspicion, jealousy, desire, and doubt in which the line between reality and fantasy is blurred. The past changes every time it is spoken about, and its consequences in the present become devastating.

  • Starts at 20:00, ticket price is 24 euros.

MARCH 27. “Música sin fronteras” festival

The 19th “Música sin fronteras” (“Music Without Borders”) Festival, organized by the Department of Culture of the local town hall, is coming to an end at the Ciudad Quesada Cultural Center in Rojales. The festival has established itself as a cultural landmark of Alicante province thanks to its commitment to musical quality and artistic diversity, as well as the participation of nationally and internationally renowned artists. The final performance will be given by the Cuban jazz duo Javier Colina & Cucurucho Valdés.

  • Starts at 19:00, ticket price is 10 euros.

MARCH 27–29. Exhibition of works by Picasso, Warhol, Murakami, and other great artists

Until May 18, the Sea Museum of Santa Pola is hosting an exhibition of works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Marc Chagall, and other great Spanish and international artists from the Vicente Aguilera Cerni Museum of Contemporary Art in Vilafamés (MACVAC) and from the collection of Mariano Poyatos and Filomena De Lorenzo (Espai Nivi gallery). Many of the works on display are previously unpublished pieces and recent additions to the MACVAC holdings and the Espai Nivi collection, making this project a unique opportunity to discover them. The two collections, structured around four themes — “The Body,” “Rituals,” “Landscapes of the Soul,” and “Transcendence” — invite visitors on a journey leading from the most physical and biographical experience to the realms of abstraction and sign. As the exhibition curators note, “it does not propose a closed discourse, but rather a process of search, a journey inward, in which each work becomes a threshold and each room a dwelling in which the visitor lives at their own pace.”

  • Opening hours: 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 (Tuesday–Saturday), and 11:00 to 13:30 (Sunday).

MARCH 28. Book fair in Torrevieja

Until April 15, the 38th Book Fair is taking place on Paseo Vista Alegre, where visitors can explore various pavilions set up across the grounds and take advantage of discounts offered by local bookstores on their products. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with well-known authors, as well as enjoy musical events, poetry readings, and literary workshops.

  • The fair opens at 12:30.

MARCH 28. Concert “Las Cuatro Estaciones de Vivaldi”

At the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), the Arde Quartet string quartet will perform as part of the Candlelight concert series dedicated to Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. The program includes the violin concerto cycle “The Four Seasons.”

  • Starts at 18:30, ticket prices start from 22.5 euros.

MARCH 28. Children’s play “Nobody wants to play with me”

The Principal Theatre of Alicante has resumed its English-language “Kids & Stories” series for children aged 3 to 10. This time, young audiences will be able to see the play “Nobody wants to play with me” in the theater lobby.

  • Starts at 12:00, ticket price is 5 euros.

MARCH 29. Play “Where Do Children Come From?”

The experimental theater El Faro will stage the play “Where Do Children Come From?”, which tells the story of two days in the lives of seven very different women who find themselves at the same time in a provincial maternity hospital. A mother of many children, a young woman not yet ready for motherhood, a woman who has decided to become a surrogate mother… Each of them brings her own story, dreams, and hopes, and together they transform the hospital ward into a place where destinies intertwine.

  • Starts at 19:30, tickets cost 20, 25, and 50 euros.

MARCH 29. Play “Pijama para seis”

The Principal Theatre of Alicante will host the play “Pijama para seis” (“Pajamas for Six”). Taking advantage of the fact that his wife Mercedes has gone to visit her mother, Fernando invites his lover Susi to spend the weekend with him, and also asks his friend Carlos to provide him with an alibi. He even hired a cook, Susana, so that nothing would be lacking. But things do not go as expected, and the romantic evening turns into a very turbulent night in which everyone pretends to be someone they are not in order to avoid being exposed.

  • Starts at 17:00 and 19:00, ticket prices are 12, 18, and 25 euros.

MARCH 29. “Spring Music Fest” festival

The “Spring Music Fest” music festival will take place at Plaza Mayor in the Zenia Boulevard shopping center (Orihuela Costa). More than 30 performers of different ages, playing a variety of musical styles, will take part.
