Here is what awaits residents and visitors of Torrevieja, as well as nearby towns in Alicante province, at the end of this week.
24–27 September. Exhibition «El oro y el universo. Saberes indígenas de Colombia»
Until 2 May 2027, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) is hosting the major international exhibition «El oro y el universo. Saberes indígenas de Colombia» («Gold and the Universe. Indigenous Knowledge of Colombia»). Thanks to a long-standing collaboration with the Gold Museum in Bogotá and the University of Cambridge, a unique collection of almost 300 sacred objects, masks and breastplates has arrived in Spain, completely transforming perceptions of the myth of El Dorado.
The exhibition features 291 archaeological artefacts specially selected for this display – including around 157 gold objects, as well as works by contemporary Indigenous peoples. Many of these exhibits are being shown in Spain for the first time. Particular attention is drawn to hybrid beings – such as the famous «bat people» or «shamans in flight». These objects are unique and exceptional not only because of their design and technical craftsmanship, but also because of the important role they played in ensuring the preservation of the world. Equally significant are the ceramic and stone objects, among which stands out a wide variety of representations of plants and animals, some of which are now threatened with extinction due to the destruction of their ecosystems.

24–27 September. Virtual tour «Egipto. Un crucero por el Nilo»
Following the success of «The Moon» and «Titanic» – projects for which hundreds of thousands of tickets have already been sold in cities such as Madrid, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Dubai, Rome and Paris – it is time for another grand virtual reality adventure. Visitors can embark on a journey through Ancient Egypt, featuring impressive scenery and extraordinary challenges, until 14 October at Virtual Zone Alicante, Plaza de los Luceros 17, Planta 1.
The first session starts at 9:00 and the last at 22:00, tickets cost €26, and places for each session are limited.
24–27 September. Trip to Tabarca Island
Every day, boats depart from the ports of Torrevieja, Santa Pola or Alicante for Tabarca Island – the largest and only inhabited island in the Valencian Community. Travellers can enjoy underwater views, discover rich marine biodiversity, sample dishes at local restaurants and visit historical monuments. The boat accommodates 250 passengers, including people with disabilities and pets, and passengers may bring their own food and drinks.

24–27 September. Multisensory exhibition «Plantoj»
Until 18 October, Museo Aguas, located at Plaza del Puente in Alicante, is hosting the multisensory exhibition «Plantoj». This project by Luis Zaragoza invites visitors to contemplate nature through four senses: sight (through projections of 23 photographs and videos on six screens), touch (with three wooden sculptures that allow visitors to experience their shapes and textures), hearing (with an original soundtrack composed by Jaime Zaragoza) and smell (with an exclusive natural fragrance symbolising all the works as a whole).

25 September. Friday market in Torrevieja
Every Friday, Parque Antonio Soria hosts Torrevieja’s street market – one of the largest small-business centres in the Vega Baja region. Covering an area of 82,000 sq. m, it accommodates up to 700 stalls and retail spaces selling food, clothing, footwear, accessories and other goods at affordable prices compared with major supermarket chains. Torrevieja’s market offers numerous amenities – including free parking, public toilets and a taxi rank. An accessible bus for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users departs every 20 minutes from 8:00 to 14:00.
From Friday to Sunday, starting at 19:30, an amusement and games park for all ages is open here.
25 September. Sara Baras dance show «Infinita»
The Municipal Theatre of Torrevieja will host Sara Baras’ dance show «Infinita». Sara Baras is one of the world’s best-known flamenco dancers, as well as a choreographer and director of her own dance company. The Cervantes Institute selected her to represent flamenco art abroad, where she has performed, among other places, in theatres in Paris, Athens, Shanghai and Moscow.

25–27 September. «Alasbravas» Festival
For three days, Plaza Séneca will become a meeting place dedicated to one of the most popular snacks in Spanish cuisine: patatas bravas (fried potatoes with a spicy sauce). Ten restaurants will take part in the festival, while Alicante residents and visitors will be able to taste, vote and choose the best snacks. In addition to a portion of potatoes priced at €4, each restaurant will offer an additional tapa or sandwich – ranging from traditional dishes to more original options: pig’s ear stew, steak tartare toast, classic sandwiches or more exotic dishes.
On Saturday afternoon, in addition to entertainment and music, a concert and beer tasting are planned, with invitations to the tasting being given away through an «Alasbravas» social media draw. On Sunday, various activities and workshops will take place and the winners will be announced.
The participating establishments are: Cheos, Torriko Anarky kitchen, Mola Food Truck, Brasad’or, Cargo, Tapería la Boya, Masala Cantina, 4Blooms, Vino y Más and Pantanet 8.

26 September. «La Noche en Blanco» Festival
As part of the third «La Noche en Blanco» festival, more than 15 cultural venues in Elche will once again open their doors. The programme includes guided tours, theatrical performances, lectures, concerts, workshops and entertainment for the whole family. This year’s new features include children’s water-related activities at the historic Molí del Real mill, visits to La Casa de la Festa, l’Hort del Gat and the Museum of the Association of Moors and Christians. Among the activities that particularly stand out are a simulated fire brigade response to a fire at the Basilica of Santa María, a route through legendary places in the city centre, children’s theatre and the «Fuera de lugar» competition, in which visitors will have to find exhibits that have been swapped between different museums.

26 September. Oktoberfest by Cárnicas Ríos
Cárnicas Ríos, a meat products shop located in Torrevieja at Calle Josefa Rebollo Rodriguez, 32, is celebrating Oktoberfest for the 28th time with traditional German dishes, products, live music, a giant paella and, of course, beer. In addition, a bouncy castle for children will be installed at the event, making it an ideal option for a family day out.

26 September. 10th International Tapas Day
The Torrevieja Hospitality Business Association is organising the tenth International Tapas Day. During this gastronomic event, 11 bars and restaurants in the city will offer a tapa with a drink for €3.50. This initiative gives visitors the opportunity to visit different establishments and discover dishes prepared especially for the occasion. This time, tuna features prominently in many dishes, alongside rice, seafood, meat, cheese and vegetables.

26 September. Concert «El anillo sin palabras»
At the ADDA Concert Hall in Alicante, the City Symphony Orchestra conducted by Josep Vicent will perform «El anillo sin palabras» («The Ring Without Words») – a symphonic synthesis lasting approximately 70 to 75 minutes, created in 1987 by renowned conductor Lorin Maazel. The work is based on musical themes from Richard Wagner’s monumental operatic tetralogy «The Ring of the Nibelung». It is a purely instrumental journey (without vocals), bringing together the principal motifs and climactic moments of the four operas that make up Wagner’s great creation into a single continuous piece for large orchestra.

26 September. Circus show «Gran Circus Maximus»
In Villajoyosa, at Partida Piletes, 26, the final themed circus show «Gran Circus Maximus» will take place, dedicated to the most famous mass spectacle of Ancient Rome – gladiatorial combat. In addition, audiences will be able to enjoy a performance by one of Spain’s best groups specialising in working with horses.

27 September. Paella competition
A traditional paella competition will take place at Plaza de Encarnación Puchol in La Mata, with inflatable attractions, music, a foam party and a DJ. The competition, which forms part of the festivities in honour of the town’s patron saint, the Virgin of the Rosary, continuing until 7 October, will feature entertainment for all ages and continue into the evening.

27 September. Open Day at the «Floating Museums»
To mark World Tourism Day, the «Floating Museums» (Museos Flotantes) are holding an open day. The event offers an opportunity to learn more about Torrevieja’s maritime and seafaring heritage, discover unique places connected with the sea and better understand the city’s historical relationship with navigation.

27 September. Body Combat and Zumba classes
As part of World Tourism Day, Body Combat and Zumba classes will be organised on Los Locos Beach in Torrevieja. The combination of these two activities makes it possible to choose one of them or spend the whole morning exercising in one of the best-known locations on the seafront.

27 September. Theatrical route «La salada historia de las lagunas»
Residents and visitors of Torrevieja are invited to the theatrical route «La salada historia de las lagunas» («The Salty History of the Lagoons»), offering an opportunity to discover the history and secrets of the local salt lakes through an entertaining journey. Participants will be guided along a route through the natural park near the cemetery (average duration – 1.5 hours), learning about events and characters associated with this natural landscape and Torrevieja’s salt-production traditions.

27 September. Musical comedy «Chasing Two Hares»
The El Faro Experimental Theatre, located in Torrevieja at Calle Antonio Ruiz Coves, 6, invites audiences to the performance «Chasing Two Hares». This musical comedy about the inimitable Svirid Golokhvastov will appear in a new, elegant setting. The charming barber will once again try to hit the jackpot both in his love life and in his financial affairs. The text of the play has been carefully preserved, while every scene is performed to an energetic jazz rhythm. The classic plot is filled with lively improvisation and sophisticated musical drive.
