Torrevieja City Council has approved the construction of the future Alto de la Casilla urban park, which is set to become one of the city’s main green areas.
The contract, worth 10,370,583 euros including VAT, was awarded to the temporary joint venture UTE formed by Abala Infraestructuras and Orthem Servicios y Actuaciones Ambientales.
Works may begin as early as August
The winning bidder submitted an offer with a 13% discount compared with the base tender budget, representing savings of around 1.55 million euros, and received a final score of 97.49 points after the analysis of technical and economic criteria.
According to City Council forecasts, construction work could begin in August this year, with an execution period of eight months, meaning the new park could open its doors in spring 2027.
Thirteen bids were submitted
The procedure, carried out as an open tender, attracted strong interest from companies: thirteen bids were submitted.
Following the assessment by the technical services, none of the projects was considered disproportionate or to contain an unjustifiably low price.
The project includes shaded areas and inclusive playgrounds
In addition to the economic aspect, the quality of the proposals and possible improvements were taken into account when awarding the contract.
The winning consortium will implement all additional improvements, with a total value of 267,350 euros.
Among these measures is the installation of an additional 810 m² of canopies, designed to expand shaded areas and improve visitor comfort during the hottest months of the year.
The park will also include a new area of universal and inclusive children’s playgrounds, consisting of seven certified elements designed for use by children with different physical abilities.
Alto de la Casilla will become a new leisure space
The future Alto de la Casilla urban park is conceived as a large space for leisure, socialising and sport, with spacious rest areas and a significant green area.
Through this project, the City Council aims to expand Torrevieja’s network of urban parks and create new green lungs intended for the comfortable enjoyment of residents and visitors.
For the property market in the province of Alicante, such urban infrastructure projects become an additional factor increasing the attractiveness of areas for living and recreation.
