Here is what interesting events await residents and visitors of Torrevieja, as well as nearby towns in the province of Alicante, at the end of this week.
May 1–3. Exhibition of works by Picasso, Warhol, Murakami and other great artists
Until May 18, the Maritime Museum of Santa Pola is hosting an exhibition of works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Marc Chagall and other great Spanish and international artists from the Vicente Aguilera Museum of Contemporary Art in Vilafamés (MACVAC) and from the collection of Mariano Poyatos and Filomena De Lorenzo (Espai Nivi gallery). Many of the works on display are previously unpublished paintings and recent additions to the MACVAC holdings and the Espai Nivi collection, making the project a unique opportunity to discover them. The two collections, built around four themes – “Body”, “Rituals”, “Landscapes of the Soul” and “Transcendence” – invite visitors to follow a path leading from the most physical and biographical experience to the realms of abstraction and sign. As the exhibition curators note, “it does not offer a closed discourse, but rather represents a process of searching, a journey inward, in which each work becomes a threshold, and each room a dwelling where visitors exist at their own rhythm”.
- Opening hours – from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 (Tuesday-Saturday), and from 11:00 to 13:30 (Sunday).
