Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol has received recognition from the World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) for the region’s contribution to golf tourism. The award was presented in Málaga during the Spanish tournament final, held on 22 and 23 September 2026.

The recognition highlights the longstanding work of golf clubs, professionals, businesses and institutions that has helped Costa del Sol become a prominent destination for golfers. The WCGC award adds to other distinctions received by the region, including the title of Europe’s Best Golf Destination from the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).

More than 70 golf courses in Málaga province

Málaga province has more than 70 golf courses – the largest concentration in continental Europe and around 70% of Andalusia’s total. The climate makes it possible to play all year round, with around 325 days of sunshine annually and an average temperature close to 20°C.

Golf supports tourism throughout the year

Golf properties in Casares attract visitors beyond the summer season and help spread tourism activity across the year. According to Turismo Costa del Sol, golf also supports hotels, restaurants and cultural activities.

The region offers golfers more than courses, with a wide choice of accommodation and leisure options. Visitors can combine a round of golf with local food, sightseeing and other experiences.
