Alicante City Council has devised a plan to facilitate safer mobility for residents this Christmas; it has drawn up a map with five pedestrian routes in Alicante that will remain closed to traffic on Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m, from 29 November until 3 January, according to a statement from municipal sources.

It is an initiative studied and proposed by the Department of Traffic and Mobility, adopted with the aim of “opening the streets to citizens with new spaces to promote safer sustainable mobility and offer pedestrian routes that promote commerce and hospitality in Alicante.

In this regard, it is planned to close to road traffic and parking on Sundays from 29 November to 3 January, and on Tuesday 8 December:

  • Calle Poeta Quintana, between Avenida de General Marvá and Calle Capitán Segarra.
  • Plaza del Ayuntamiento, between Calle Jorge Juan and Calle Rafael Altamira.
  • Rambla de Méndez Núñez, betweenCalle Duque de Zaragoza and San Fernando.
  • Avenida de Maisonnave, between Avenida Doctor Gadea/Federico Soto and Avenida Oscar Esplá, Salamanca and Churruca.
  • Calle Gerona, betweenAvenida Rambla Méndez Núñez and Plaza Calvo Sotelo.

Programme of days when it will be closed to traffic:

  • Sunday 29 November. Black Friday campaign.
  • Sunday, 6 December. Día de la Constitución.
  • Tuesday, 8 December. Día de la Inmaculada.
  • Sunday, 13 December. Pre-Christmas Sunday.
  • Sunday, 20 December. Pre-Christmas Sunday.
  • Sunday, 27 December. Christmas Sunday.
  • Sunday, 3 January. Christmas Sunday.
