According to the report “The World’s Best Cities 2021”, produced by Resonance Consultancy and considered one of the world’s leading rankings, Barcelona’s city is in eighth position as the best city in the world to live, work, research and visit in 2021. Barcelona is behind London, New York, Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, Dubai and Singapore and ahead of Los Angeles and Madrid.

The report also points out that, despite the tough year for the economy and tourism, Barcelona “has been strengthened as a host to the world’s leading technology events, such as the Mobile World Congress and Smart City Expo. At the same time, they consider Barcelona and the surrounding region to be “a leading destination on the map of global technological ecosystems”, highlighting various infrastructures such as scientific-technological parks, universities and the 22@ district.

In the recent ranking of the FDI magazine’s “Top 10 Tech Cities of the Future 2020/2021”, Barcelona is in eighth place among the European technology cities of the future, and in fifth place in terms of “best prospects for investment in innovation, technology and start-ups”. The city is behind London, Dublin, Paris and Amsterdam. In the Saffron City Brand ranking of the strongest tourism brands, Barcelona ranks seventh behind Paris, London, Tokyo, New York, Singapore and Dubai.
