The term “Sakura” is not well known in Spain, but it does exist.

There are natural spots in Spain and Valencia where you can enjoy one of the most fabulous natural spectacles: watching the cherry blossom trees in bloom.

In the province of Alicante, it is produced, particularly in the Vall de Laguart.

In other parts of the country it can be found in Sant Climent de Llobregat (Catalonia), Chantada (Lugo), the Caderechas Valley (Burgos), Alfarnate (Granada) or in the Jerte Valley (Extremadura).

In all these rural destinations is where people can enjoy this visual spectacle of cherry blossoms.
Every year, thousands of travellers visit Japan to enjoy the country at its best during Sakura, the cherry blossom season, which the Japanese celebrate with the Hanami festival.

However, this floral spectacle can also be enjoyed at other places in Spain.

The best dates to enjoy this Sakura in the national territory are between the end of March and the beginning of April, for 20 days, although it can vary depending on the year’s weather.

Rural destinations such as these highlights have a timeless charm, but also boast exceptional events, such as the flowering of cherry trees, which are a big draw for travellers who more than ever want to visit places outside the big cities with their family and friends.

According to a recent survey conducted for Airbnb in Spain, 35% of those planning to travel in the near future said they would be inclined to choose a rural destination in the country for their next holiday.
