EasyJet has added 65,472 additional seats for flights between the UK and Spain, following the UK government’s decision to remove quarantine for vaccinated travellers from the amber list from 19 July. Of these, 12,548 are routes between the UK and Alicante.

The airline has announced in a statement that in total it will add 140,000 additional seats for countries on the amber list. This summer, flight bookings to destinations in this category have increased by 400% and holiday bookings have increased by more than 440% in the hours following the announcement (compared to the previous week’s bookings).

Spain, Greece and Portugal are among the most popular countries on the amber list for both flights and holidays. By city, Alicante and Malaga are among the most popular destinations to fly to this summer, so the airline has added 12,548 and 8,928 additional seats, respectively. Internationally, Faro, Nice and Corfu are other favourite destinations.

In total, EasyJet has set up nearly five million seats available on flights between the UK and 85 green and amber listed destinations this summer.

Javier Gándara, easyJet’s managing director for southern Europe, has called on the UK government to remove “costly tests” for fully vaccinated people travelling to low-risk green and amber destinations, as “we don’t want flying to be available to the wealthy”.

In terms of cancellation policies, the airline offers flexible booking policies, allowing customers to book now with the confidence that if their plans change, so can their booking.

The airline has also partnered with diagnostic testing companies to give customers access to “convenient and affordable” testing, including PCR tests if needed.
