8 October. Sara Baras dance show «Infinita»

Sara Baras will present her dance show «Infinita» on the stage of the Gran Teatro in Elche. Sara Baras is one of the world’s best-known flamenco dancers, as well as a choreographer and director of her own dance company. The Cervantes Institute selected her to represent flamenco art abroad, where she has performed, among other venues, in theatres in Paris, Athens, Shanghai and Moscow.

8–11 October. Play «La cuisine de ma cousine»

La Cubana theatre returns to the stage of Alicante’s Teatro Principal with the «crazy comedy» «La cuisine de ma cousine» («My Cousin’s Kitchen»). This «culinary melodrama» will give audiences the chance to immerse themselves in the world of gastronomy using typical «ingredients»: humour, music, songs, colours, rhythm, surprises and plenty of local flavour.

Starts at 20:00 (Thursday), 17:00 and 21:00 (Friday, Saturday), 18:00 (Sunday), tickets cost 35, 40 and 48 euros.

8–11 October. Exhibition «El oro y el universo. Saberes indígenas de Colombia»

Until 2 May 2027, the Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) is hosting the major international exhibition «El oro y el universo. Saberes indígenas de Colombia» («Gold and the Universe. Indigenous Knowledge of Colombia»). Thanks to historic cooperation with the Gold Museum in Bogotá and the University of Cambridge, a unique collection of almost 300 sacred objects, masks and breastplates has arrived in Spain, completely changing perceptions of the myth of El Dorado.

The exhibition includes 291 archaeological pieces specially selected for the display – including around 157 gold objects – as well as works by contemporary indigenous peoples. Many are being shown in Spain for the first time. Hybrid beings such as the famous «bat-men» and «shamans in flight» attract particular attention. These objects are unique and exceptional not only because of their design and technical craftsmanship, but also because of the important role they played in preserving the world. Equally important are ceramic and stone objects, including a wide variety of plant and animal figures, some of which are now endangered because of the destruction of their ecosystems.

Opening hours – 10:00 to 21:00 (Tuesday–Saturday), 10:00 to 14:00 (Sunday and public holidays), tickets cost 6 euros.

8–11 October. Virtual tour «Egipto. Un crucero por el Nilo»

After the success of «Luna» and «Titanic» – projects that have already sold hundreds of thousands of tickets in cities such as Madrid, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Dubai, Rome and Paris – it is time for another major virtual-reality adventure. Visitors can journey through Ancient Egypt with impressive scenery and surprising challenges until 14 October at Virtual Zone Alicante, Plaza de los Luceros 17, Floor 1.

The first session starts at 9:00 and the last at 22:00, tickets cost 26 euros, and places for each session are limited.

8–11 October. Trip to Tabarca Island

Every day, visitors can take a boat from the ports of Torrevieja, Santa Pola or Alicante to Tabarca Island – the largest and only inhabited island in the Valencian Community. Travellers can enjoy underwater views, discover rich marine biodiversity, try dishes in local restaurants and visit historic monuments. The boat has capacity for 250 passengers, including people with reduced mobility and pets, and passengers may bring food and drinks.

Departures – from 9:30 to 18:45, returns – from 10:30 to 19:30, tickets from Torrevieja – 27 euros for adults and 19 euros for children.

8–11 October. Multisensory exhibition «Plantoj»

Until 18 October, Museo Aguas, located at Plaza del Puente in Alicante, is hosting the multisensory exhibition «Plantoj». The project by Luis Zaragoza invites visitors to contemplate nature through four senses: sight (projections of 23 photographs and videos on six screens), touch (three wooden sculptures allowing visitors to feel their shapes and textures), hearing (an original soundtrack composed by Jaime Zaragoza) and smell (an exclusive natural fragrance symbolising all the works as a whole).

9 October. Friday market in Torrevieja

Every Friday, Parque Antonio Soria hosts Torrevieja’s street market – one of the largest small-business hubs in the Vega Baja area. Across 82,000 sq.m., up to 700 stalls offer food, clothing, footwear, accessories and other goods at affordable prices compared with large supermarket chains. The Torrevieja market offers numerous conveniences, including free parking, public toilets and a taxi rank. Every 20 minutes from 8:00 to 14:00, an accessible bus runs for people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users.

From Friday to Sunday, starting at 19:30, an amusement and games park for all ages is open here.

9–12 October. «Circarte» festival

Until 25 October, the 17th «Circarte» festival will take place at 10 venues in five municipalities: Alicante, San Vicente del Raspeig, El Campello, Beniardá and Benimantell. The event comprises 23 performances and activities involving 14 circus companies and more than 50 artists: acrobats, jugglers, clowns and many others. The festival continues to pursue its goal of introducing audiences from different backgrounds and communities – from cities to rural areas – to contemporary circus by organising performances in theatres, cultural centres, squares and other public spaces.

The festival programme promotes circus without animal exploitation and pays particular attention both to the artistic quality of performances and to caring for the people involved. In addition, 16 of the 23 activities will be free, highlighting Circarte’s commitment to making contemporary circus more accessible to the public.

9–12 October. «Fireta del Camp d’Elx» fair

Elche will host another edition of the traditional «Fireta del Camp d’Elx» fair in the Paseo de la Estación and Paseo de Jaca area.
