The University Hospital of Torrevieja is fourteen years old, and these are just some of the notable advantages that users of this health area have over other health departments: investment, employment, quality of care, and shorter waiting lists.

The decision to reverse the Torrevieja Health Department, they stress, is not justified either in terms of quality or efficiency, let alone health outcomes. “We must remember that it is the best in the Valencian Community, according to official reports and audits of the GeneralitatValenciana itself. These audits show that the Torrevieja Health Department patients are the most satisfied, those who least wait and those who receive the best attention, due to the real commitment shown in health plans, investments, technology, and human and material resources. All this has been ratified by international organizations such as the International Joint Commission that recently re-accredited the University Hospital of Torrevieja based on more than 1,200 quality standards”, they say from the department.
During the fourteen years of its existence, the health department has managed to maintain excellent care and management indicators. So much so that, in the last report commissioned by the Ministry of Health to the Sindicatura de Cuentas(the body responsible for controlling the accounts of public services), it deduced that the University Hospital of Torrevieja is more efficient and has better health results than the rest of the public hospitals of the Valencian Community.
Furthermore, according to the Sindicatura’s report, Torrevieja Salud is 30% more efficient than the rest of the public hospitals in the Valencian Community. This phenomenon leads to a saving of 45 million euros per year for the citizen’s pocket. The report also includes that the degree of satisfaction of the patients of Torrevieja Salud exceeds the average of the community, according to an evaluation carried out by the Ministry itself.
