The deputy of Compromís in the House of Commons, Joan Baldoví, was in Elche on the morning of 9 December, presenting the national budget (PGE) and the investments from Elche, which as previously reported, through their amendments an investment agreement has been closed for the connection not only from Alicante to the airport but also from Elche. It will be a simultaneous investment by both cities and will have a budget, until 2024, of 65 million euros.
In any case, the novelty is that the commitment now exceeds the so-called ‘variante de Torrellano’ that connected from Alicante, and work will begin to connect from Elche, to which Baldoví has indicated that “we will be attentive and vigilant so that the proposal is executed, and there will be no money left from Ministry of Developmentwithout investment”, adding that they did not understand from their political partywhy the railway connection of such an important airport had not been approved until now.
Thus, 5 million euros will be allocated in 2021, 10 million in 2022, 25 million in 2023 and 25 million in 2024, with 20 million remaining for other years.
