Albir, Spain – is a town in the North of the Costa Blanca, in the municipality of Alfaz del Pi., 18 394 people according to data from 2017 live in Albir, many of whom are foreigners.

Albir got the status of a town in 1863. Until that point, it was a suburb of Benidorm. The town lives off almost entirely the tourism and is considered one of the most Europeanized towns in Spain due to the fact, that it was selected for life and rest by EU citizens, mostly by residents of Scandinavian countries.

Albir is a cozy, quiet and clean coastal town, which is very suitable for a peaceful family holiday, especially for families with children and the elderly. Albir has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers, mild snow-free winters and low rainfall. Albir is situated in the bay, so the sea is almost always calm, there is no strong winds and storms here. The swimming season in Albir lasts approximately from June to October inclusive, although many people from colder climes in comparison with Spain can swim even in winter.

The amazing beach of Albir, or The Raco de l’Albir beach, covered with snow-white pebbles, is one of the best on the Costa Blanca. We are talking about a semi-urban beach with a promenade, equipped with all the necessary for a comfortable stay for the whole family. Nearby there are bars, restaurants and cafes.
The Albir beach is well suited to practice water sports. For example, here you can rent equipment for windsurfing, take lessons of handling a catamaran or diving, etc.

The Albir beach is bordered to the north by Playa de Cap Blanca and to the south by Sierra Helada. In the area where Albira beach leads to rocky cliffs, there are some interesting bays – Sala de la Mina, Sala del Amerador, Sala lldel Médico. It’s not exactly easy to get, but they are of great interest to snorkeling fans: the seabed in these places has preserved rich flora and fauna. Here you can observe the life of many species of fish, see octopus or even rare red starfish.

Dry riverbed Rio Seco

The river (Rio Seco) ran through Albir here before, often overflowing in winter and causing floods. Taking care of the well-being of the people, the Albir’s authorities decided to move the river outside the town, and to equip a recreation area in its old bed – a great place for walks with the whole family.

Promenade with Avenue of stars

Along the Albira beach stretches the promenade Paseo de las Estrellas, on the pavement of which you can see stars such as those on the famous Hollywood Walk of fame. Here are immortalized the names of those actors who received the awards of the annual film festival held in Alfaz del Pi, which history counts more than 30 years. Bulevar de los Musicos is another popular place for walking and spending free time in Albir.

The Natural Park of Sierra Helada and the Lighthouse of Albir

Not far from Albir is an amazing place – the Sierra Helada National Park (Parque Natural de la Sierra Helada). This unique nature reserve area is a home for many rare species of animals and plants. The Park offers numerous hiking and cycling trails of varying difficulty.

It might be an interesting walk with stunning views by climbing to the Lighthouse of Albir (Faro del Albir), near where is located the watchtower of the XVII century. The road to the Lighthouse, which runs through the Sierra Helada Natural Park, will take about an hour (2,5 km there and 2,5 back).
On your way you will see many interesting places: observation decks with panoramic sea views, mines, caves, a tunnel, as well as fossils – large stones with prints of prehistoric plants and animals. Inside the Lighthouse you will find a photo collection, telling the story of the area.

A walk to the Lighthouse of Albir is a great option for outdoor activities. The route follows a paved road and is equipped with many signs. In addition, the route is not difficult – it is available for children (or parents with strollers), the elderly, people with disabilities.
The route can be traversed on foot or by bike. Free parking is available in front of the Park.

The town of Albir, Spain – is a great place to buy a home on the Costa Blanca, both for living and relaxation and for the investment purpose of making short or long term profit. Within one year, the price of houses in Albir increased by 3.8%, and tourist rental housing near the sea continues to be one of the most profitable businesses.

Accommodation in Albir is excellent for rent in both high and low season. The weather in Albir is sunny and warm throughout the entire year and attracts residents of the Northern Europe (especially Norwegians), for whom the local winter is almost like the summer in their homeland.

The housing stock in Albir consists mostly of new buildings: there is a very high-quality housing located in close proximity to the sea. Traditional Mediterranean architecture is also presented, lending a special charm and flavor to the town.

At the same time, you won’t see high-rises here: the maximum permissible height of buildings is five floors. The town is incredibly beautiful and elegant. Buildings with modern stylish architecture harmonically communicate with green surroundings, not arguing with them, but complementing. There is a large selection of houses in Albir: villas, townhouses, duplexes, as well as apartments in new buildings.

Among the disadvantages we could include relatively high housing prices – an average of €2271 per sq. m, according to the portal idealista for September 2019, which is even higher than in Benidorm (€2125), Altea (€2070), Denia (€1988) and Calpe (€2058), but lower than in Javea (€2288) and Moraira (€2720). A 1-bedroom apartment in Albir can be purchased from €80 000, a house from €110 000, a penthouse from €120 000.
