May 14. Play “Un monstruo viene a verme”

The play “Un monstruo viene a verme” (“A Monster Comes to See Me”) will be presented on the stage of the Teatro Principal in Alicante. Yet this night seems somehow different: Conor hears a voice calling him from the garden. Opposite the house stands an old church with a cemetery and an ancient tree – a yew that turns into a monster before the boy’s eyes. Together with this creature, Conor sets off night after night on a new adventure to escape his own fears, until he gains enough courage to face his worst nightmare.

Starts at 11:00 and 20:00, tickets cost 18, 20 and 25 euros.

May 14–17. Exhibition of works by Picasso, Warhol, Murakami and other great artists

Until May 18, the Maritime Museum of Santa Pola is hosting an exhibition of works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Marc Chagall and other great Spanish and international artists from the Vicente Aguilera Contemporary Art Museum in Vilafamés (MACVAC) and from the collection of Mariano Poyatos and Filomena De Lorenzo (Espai Nivi gallery). Many of the works on display are previously unpublished paintings and recent additions to the MACVAC holdings and the Espai Nivi collection, making the project a unique opportunity to discover them. The two collections, built around four themes – “Body,” “Rituals,” “Landscapes of the Soul” and “Transcendence” – invite visitors to follow a path that leads from the most bodily and biographical experience toward the realms of abstraction and sign. As the exhibition curators note, “it does not offer a closed discourse, but rather a process of searching, a journey within oneself, in which each work becomes a threshold and each room a dwelling where the visitor inhabits at their own pace.”

Opening hours – from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00 (Tuesday to Saturday), and from 11:00 to 13:30 (Sunday).

Every day, from the ports of Torrevieja, Santa Pola or Alicante, visitors can take a boat to Tabarca Island – the largest and only inhabited island in the Valencian Community.
