Mari Carmen Sánchez, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism of Alicante, has presented this morning the Postiguet beach as the first beach on an international level to include the Navilens technology. It is a free mobile phone application from Alicante that is already operational in many countries, such as Holland, Japan and the USA.

The Navilens technology, which was previously implemented in Alicante’s urban bus fleet, will now provide beach visitors with real-time information on protocols regarding Covid-19, water quality, bathing quality (green and yellow flags, etc.), water temperature, ambient temperature, UV index, wind and beach occupancy rate.

All this information is provided in one of the 33 languages enabled in the application, depending on the language set on the user’s mobile phone.

On the other hand, tourism and leisure are essential in everyday life and constitute a right that many people, however, for functional diversity reasons, cannot access because of the infrastructures, equipment or availability of information do not present the appropriate conditions of accessibility.

The Torrevieja Tourism Board is making efforts in order to transform the city and its resources into an accessible and inclusive destination. Along these lines, various services have been provided on the beaches, such as the adapted bathing assistance service, which is present every summer on the Postiguet, San Juan and Urbanova beaches. Likewise, this service includes an area of attention for cognitive disability.
