Transfer of utility contracts to the new property owner

When buying or renting property in Spain, you’ll need to transfer the utility bills into your name. This is often your first interaction with Spanish utility providers. Not sure how to do it? Alegria’s managers will guide you through every detail of the process.

How does the utility transfer work in Spain?

To move all bills to the new owner, we contact the utility companies and prepare a set of documents. You won’t need to handle the technicalities — Alegria will take care of it. Our managers will speak with utility representatives in Spanish and help formalize all documents.

What information is needed to transfer utilities to the new owner?

Please provide:

• NIE;

• property details;

• bank account number for direct debit of utilities.

Service fees (Torrevieja)

• Transfer of contracts for electricity, water, comunidad (HOA/community fee): €100 each.

• IBI property tax: €50.

• Full package (electricity, water, comunidad, IBI): €350.
