The coast of Torrevieja has 4 sandy beaches and several picturesque rocky coves. The beaches attract those who prefer to relax lying on the sand. Instead, the coves are the ideal place for lovers of diving, snorkelling and fishing. Torrevieja’s beaches, as well as all the beaches on the Costa Blanca, are free, however, some hotels and restaurants located near the beaches have their own sun beds and beach umbrellas for rent.
In addition, all the beaches of Torrevieja have everything you need in order to spend an excellent day here, alone or with your family (wheelchair access, foot showers, informative signs, etc.).

Currently, five of Torrevieja’s beaches have the prestigious Blue Flag and the Q for Spanish Tourist Quality: Pitera Cove, Los Náufragos Beach, El Cura Beach, Los Locos Beach and Cabo Cervera.

La Mata Beach in Torrevieja (Playa de La Mata)

La Mata Beach area begins in the Torrelamata area, located north of Torrevieja, and extends to the neighbouring municipality of La Mata. Fortunately, there is a convenient bus connection between La Mata (A route) and the centre of Torrevieja, you will have no problems with transportation: it takes approximately 5 minutes from Torrevieja to La Mata Beach.

This large sandy beach is 2300 m long and 44 m wide. The promenade with its bars and restaurants stretches along the entire beach. In addition, La Mata Beach is surrounded by the beautiful Waterwheel park (Parque del Molino del Agua), with its sandy dunes and its abundant pine trees.
La Mata Beach is considered one of the best beaches of Torrevieja. This beach is ideal for sports or walking. In fact, you can always see in this place many athletes running by the sea, exercising or practicing yoga.

There is no breakwater on this beach, that is why there are often strong swell during the summer season, which attracts surf lovers.

El Cura Beach in Torrevieja (Playa del Cura)

El Cura Beach, located in Torrevieja, is the most famous and popular beach of the city. It is located in the city centre and it is about 30 m wide and 325 m long. Along the entire beach is the promenade, where there are a large number of bars, restaurants, and gift and souvenir shops. It is practically impossible to park near the beach in summer, so it is advisable to go to the beach on foot or by bus (A route).

The biggest disadvantage of El Cura Beach in Torrevieja, as, in general, of all urban beaches, is its high occupation during the high season. The beach is crowded of people from early in the morning. So, if you do not like to get up early, most likely you will not find any free place to lie on the beach.

If this is not a big problem for you, El Cura Beach will meet all your expectations. However, if you prefer something less crowded, better choose another beach.

Los Locos Beach in Torrevieja (Playa de Los Locos)

This is an urban beach with golden sand, about 760 m long and 25 m wide. The beach is located in the northern part of Torrevieja, between Palangre Cove (Cala de Palangre) and White Coves (Calas Blancas). There are a lot of tapas bars, cafes and restaurants right in front of Los Locos Beach. Also, in the summer, you can buy churros, ice creams and soft drinks near the beach.

Los Locos beach is not as busy in summer as Playa del Cura. Also, the water is cleaner and more transparent. This beach has a long gradual entry to the sea. That is to say, the depth gradually increases, which is suitable for families with children. However, there are stones in some places, so be careful when entering the water.

There is a bus stop (route A) near Los Locos Beach. You can also get to the beach by car (there are places to park). However, most tourists prefer to come here on foot.

If you are heading north about 100 meters away from Los Locos beach, you will find a series of rocky coves. This is a great place to dive and snorkel.

This beach is located in the San Roque area of ​ El Acequion – Los Naufragos area. It is near the conveyor used to transport salt from the production site near the pink lake of Torrevieja. Los Naufragos Beach is 325 meters long and 77 meters wide. The main advantage of this beach is a comfortable and gradual entrance to the sea, and its great disadvantage is that the proximity of the port affects the cleanliness of the water.
This beach is frequented mainly by residents of the El Acequión area. From other areas of Torrevieja it is not very convenient to get here.

This is the name of these small coves located near the city’s promenade, Paseo Juan Aparicio, located in the central area of ​​Torrevieja. The coves are surrounded by cliffs, where a special metal ladders were adapted to access to the sea and there is a breakwater. The fact that once in a blue moon there is strong swell here, added to the shallow depth of its waters make it an ideal place for children.

If you are willing to spend 15 − 20 minutes to travel, you can go to the Orihuela Costa area, in the south, where the excellent beaches of La Zenia and Campoamor are located.

The neighbouring municipality of Guardamar del Segura, located 15 km north of Torrevieja, also has beautiful sandy beaches that stretch for several kilometres along the coast.

In conclusion, wherever you stay in Torrevieja, you will always have the possibility to choose different beaches within walking distance, or just a few minutes by car at most. We remind you that the beach season in the south of the Costa Blanca lasts from May to October. The largest influx of bathers takes place from July to mid-September. On the contrary, if you prefer a relaxing holiday without a crowd of people, come in early summer or early October.
